AUCTION : 0510

Lot#: 561

DESCRIPTION: French, J.L. Reutter ATMOS clock, atmospheric driven time only movement with torsion pendulum designed using mercury inside a glass tube similar to that of a thermometer to react to sensitive changes in temperature and atmospheric conditions, Arabic numeral radium painted black dial, s#3705 c1926
CONDITION: we set this clock up on a granite counter and had it running for 2 weeks; this is a good sign. The case has some light oxidation and the dial is in excellent condition with no flaking. Reutter sold the patent to LeCoultre Watch Company, and they began manufacture of the redesigned Atmos clock in 1928 at serial # 5000. Note also that this clock was hand carried to us, and should either be picked up at the auction hall or picked up at our office a few days after the sale. We do not recommend shipping.
ESTIMATE: $5500 - $6500
